Fundamental laser physics including wavelength, fluence, pulse duration, spot size, and selective photothermolysis theory; light-tissue interaction mechanisms, chromophore targets, and thermal relaxation time principles across device types.

Fitzpatrick skin type classification, melanin distribution and photosensitivity, Glogau photoageing scale, skin barrier assessment, ethnic skin considerations, contraindication screening, and patient suitability assessment for light-based treatments.

Laser and IPL hair removal physics, hair cycle science, device and wavelength selection by skin and hair type, treatment parameter optimisation, treatment interval planning, vascular lesion targeting, telangiectasia and rosacea treatment protocols.
